History

What began as a Saturday prayer fellowship meeting of Anglicans at St. Paul’s Methodist Church transformed into the mission station we are today. All Saints was received into the Diocese of Fort Worth, Texas, in 2010 under the leadership of the Rt. Rev. Jack Leo Iker, Bishop. We chose All Saints as our church name as a reaction of the fact that we came together from many different churches to form a community of believers to bear witness to the Truth. During those early days we held services on Satur-
days at Covenant Presbyterian Church. Fr. Andy Powell from the Diocese of Fort Worth, Texas and Fr. Rusty DeMoss from the Diocese of Gulf Atlantic in Montgomery, Alabama graciously alternated week-
ends with us so that we could partake in the Eucharist.

 

In 2012, Fr. Mark Bleakley was called as our vicar and we were able to hold our services on Sunday at the Wesley Center on the ULM campus. Each Sunday, we brought in all that we needed to set up a makeshift altar for communion and Fr. Mark and his family made the 150 mile round trip from Vicksburg, Mississippi to lead our worship. Later, we moved our Sunday services to the Twin Cities Bible Church in West Monroe where, much to our delight, we were able to leave our makeshift altar and vestments rack in the church. We even had a small closet to store the articles of worship! In addition to serving All Saints, Fr. Mark and his wife Michelle owned and operated a stained glass studio in Vicksburg where they created beautiful windows for churches across the country as well as smaller stained glass art for private homes. In 2013, the Bleakleys and their four young children moved their home and studio to Monroe so that they could fully participate in the church life of All Saints.

On the first Sunday of 2014, we loaded our pickup trucks and moved from the Twin Cities Bible Church to Messiah Lutheran Church in Monroe. We grieved with our friends there who were closing their church
after more than 40 years and we thanked God for providing us with a more permanent place. Within five months, God had provided us a way to purchase the church which is situated on a lovely wooded lot in north Monroe.
